Advanced Scene Study

Instructor: Joe-Norman Shaw

Prerequisite: Scene Study (Enrollment at Instructor's Discretion)

Description:

In this class, the Instructor takes on the role of the director, challenging the actor to risk total emotional immersion and hone their performance skills. Scene material is more complex and drawn from a wide variety of genres. It is our intention to expose the actor to the great playwrights from around the world: From Shakespeare to Chekhov, Ibsen, Strindberg, Clifford Odets, Tennessee Williams, Judith Thompson, George F. Walker, David Mamet, Sam Shephard, John Patrick Shanley and others.

In the Fall, scenes are chosen from the Modern Era, while Shakespearean scenes and monologues are selected for the Winter session and Contemporary scenes are the actors' material in the Spring session. Advanced actors continue to return to this class, over and over, because it is an excellent place to continue to develop their craft. Actors must work independently with their partners and dedicate themselves to considerable out of class rehearsal time.

Schedule: New Session Beginning Monday, April 7th, 7:00-11:00pm x 12 weeks

Cost: $600.00 plus GST
